Frequently Asked Questions
How much battery capacity do I need for a home backup system?
Add the wattage of every device you want to back up and multiply by the hours each runs overnight or during an outage. A basic home with lights, fridge, router, and a few outlets typically needs 5–10 kWh, while whole-home comfort with air conditioning or pumps often needs 15 kWh or more.
Can a residential solar system work off-grid?
Some models are designed for off-grid use, while others are hybrid systems that can operate with or without the grid. If off-grid is your primary goal, choose a model explicitly listed as off-grid and verify that its inverter, charge controller, and battery capacity can handle your entire load profile.
What PV array voltage is compatible with these systems?
Models in this range cover MPPT ranges from about 60 Vdc up to 950 Vdc depending on the model. Check your existing panel string voltage against the system’s MPPT range and maximum PV open-circuit voltage; mismatched strings can damage the inverter or void the warranty.
Can I monitor the system remotely?
Most residential systems support Bluetooth and WiFi, and several also offer GPRS or RS485/CAN integration for third-party monitoring. Remote monitoring is useful for tracking solar production, battery state of charge, and fault alerts from a phone or web dashboard.
Are these systems safe to install outdoors?
The majority of residential all-in-one systems in the range carry IP65, which protects against dust and low-pressure water jets. They can be installed outdoors under a shelter, but you should still avoid standing water, direct sun exposure where possible, and ensure adequate airflow around the unit.
