Collection: Off Grid Solar Inverter

The Off-Grid Solar Inverter series converts solar and battery energy into household AC power where the grid is absent or unreliable. SunWell's off-grid unit merges an inverter, a solar charge controller, and an AC charger in one wall-mount box, so a small standalone system runs without separate devices. It keeps essential loads — lights, routers, a fridge, and tools — running on clean power, and moves to battery the instant the incoming source fails. For cabins, sheds, and remote sites, it is the simplest way to build a self-contained power supply

Application Scenarios

The 1.5kW 12V off-grid inverter fits small, self-contained power needs rather than whole-house grids. Five settings use it best.

Off-grid cabins and remote homes. Where no utility line reaches, pair the inverter with a 12V battery bank and up to 800W of panels. It runs lights, a router, a small fridge, and a TV through the day and night, and switches to battery in 10ms if the solar input dips. The pure sine wave output is safe for sensitive electronics.

RVs, vans, and boats. A 12V house battery is already standard in most vehicles, so the inverter drops in without a voltage change. At 3.5kg and 320×227×100mm it wall-mounts in a tight compartment, and 90% efficiency at 12VDC keeps battery drain low while parked off-grid.

Backup and UPS for unstable grids. In areas with brownouts or weak supply, the unit charges the battery from AC at 50A and cuts over in 10ms when the source fails, holding routers, medical devices, and appliances steady. It works as a silent standby supply even with no panels connected.

Remote equipment and telecom. Monitoring cameras, signal repeaters, and signage often sit far from power. The inverter feeds them from a local 12V bank and panel, rated -10°C to 60°C and up to 4000m. Because it is IP21, mount it in a sealed enclosure or equipment cabinet rather than exposed to weather.

Sheds, workshops, and farms. For tool charging, lighting, and small pumps, the 2.4kVA surge handles motor starts, though large pumps and multiple big motors exceed the 1.5kW rating. It is the right-sized core for a compact outbuilding supply.

Each scene shares the same simple recipe: one 12V battery, a small panel array, and this wall-mount inverter.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can a 1.5kW off-grid inverter run?

It runs continuous loads up to 1.5kW with a 2.4kVA surge, covering lights, routers, a small fridge, a TV, and power tools. It will not support multiple air conditioners or large pumps. Add up your highest simultaneous wattage; if it passes 1.5kW, choose a larger off-grid or hybrid unit.

What battery does it need?

It needs a 12V battery bank and works with both lithium and lead-acid chemistries, so pick based on budget and cycle life. Combined PV and AC charging reaches 100A, letting the bank recover fast after heavy use. Using any voltage other than 12V will prevent operation.

How many solar panels can I connect?

The built-in MPPT accepts up to 800W of panels at 17–115Vdc with a 50A charge current. That fits one or two small panels in series rather than a large rooftop string. Always check the panel open-circuit voltage stays under 115Vdc before wiring the array.

Can it work without solar panels?

Yes. With no panels connected, the inverter still charges the 12V battery from AC input at 50A and supplies backup power, switching to battery in 10ms when the source drops. This suits cabins with partial grid access or acts as a UPS for sensitive loads.

Can I mount it outdoors?

No. The inverter is IP21 rated for indoor use only, with a local LCD and no remote monitoring or parallel expansion. Mount it in a clean, dry room and keep the intake clear. Rated -10°C to 60°C and up to 4000m, it handles sheds and cabins indoors.
